We expect to Arrive back at Streete Parish Park approx. 19:00 (7 PM). This trip will be followed up later in the year with a trip to Dublin for a guided tour of the Jeanie Johnston ship to learn more of their gruelling story and the journey across the ocean for the thousands of Irish people who fled the Famine and embarked on a treacherous voyage in the hope of a better life in North America. More details on this to follow.

Boherquill Ramblers

The Ramblers visited Mullaghmeen Forest on Sunday 3rd May 2026. The devastation of Storm Eowyn is still all around on the road into the car park, but wide-ranging views have opened up towards Loughcrew and its neighbouring hills. More sunlight can now reach the forest floor and a profusion of wildflowers such as bluebells and primroses lined the trails. The birds singing in the trees completed the setting of the forest in high spring.

On Sunday 17th May 2026 the Ramblers will meet at the start of the Rathowen Bog walk on the Rathowen to Streete Road near Rathowen church for an out and back walk in the bog. Boots are recommended for this walk. Visit: Boherquill Ramblers Walking Club website.

Streete Parish Park Community Centre

Streete Parish Park Lotto

After more than 20 years of successful draws, Streete Parish Park committee has announced that its long-running bi-weekly lotto will come to an end. The decision follows declining ticket sales, a lack of volunteer support, and a desire to introduce a fresh initiative for the community.

In its place, a new 50/50 draw will be launched in the coming weeks. While the transition to a new digital system is underway and new envelopes are being printed, you can continue to purchase lotto envelopes as usual, with all entries to be included in the new draw format.

The committee expressed sincere thanks to all who have supported the lotto over the past two decades and hopes the community will continue its support by taking part in the new 50/50 game.

New 50/50 Draw

Streete Parish Park Committee are delighted to announce our new fundraising initiative for 2026! We have joined up with Clubspot who will run our support portal where you can buy tickets for our 50/50 draw online! On the streeteanddistrict.ie website or Streete Parish Park Facebook Page or on our community What's App Group, Streete watch. You can buy as many draw tickets as you want.

You can also buy a draw ticket in the usual way at €5 for a draw number or €10 for tree draw numbers. When the draw takes place whatever amount of money is raised at the time of the draw, will be split 50/50 between the winner and Streete Parish Park. This system gives you a much better chance of winning. All money raised will go directly into the upkeep of our community centre and future development. Our draws will be held regularly, the first one being Monday 18th of May with a minimum, win of €500.

Tidy Towns

A meeting was held last Thursday evening in the Parish Park to discuss the prospect of resetting up Streete Tidy towns. This is welcome news to the people of the village and surrounding areas. I trust other areas of the parish ie Boherquill, Lismacaffrey and Float will also be discussed and included going forward and representatives from these areas will attend the next meeting this coming Thursday evening at 20:00 (8PM). It maybe important if seeking funding support that all areas are included in the one plan going forward.
