Daffodil Day Coffee Morning: Linda Butler tells me the Daffodil day coffee morning held last Friday in Streete Parish Park was a tremendous success. It’s a credit to Janet, Linda and their team of volunteers who put in trojan work every year with the finest culinary delights, baked fresh for everyone to enjoy. Linda and Janet would like to thank everyone who turned out and supported this great cause so generously. The money raised when counted up will be sent off to the Irish Cancer Society shortly. If you couldn’t make the drop in morning and would like to donate, please put it in an envelope marked Daffodil day and drop in the Parish Park letterbox and we will gladly pass on to Linda and Janet.
Lisryan Tidy Village & Development: would like to thank everyone who supported their raffle and music bingo on Friday night last. The event was an unbelievable success and would not have been possible without the Continuing support of the community. The committee would also like to thank all who sponsor prizes on the night your generosity is greatly appreciated. Park Development: The overview Plan of the Park lands which were unveiled at our AGM, have been on display in the hall of our community centre for a number of weeks now and has brought back some very positive feedback. I have relayed on the feedback to the architects who are now completing the future development plan of the hall. This high-quality design plan will focus on key cross cutting themes such as climate action, sustainable development, social inclusion, and healthy place-making. It is also a blueprint which can be used now and for future generations as a masterplan. When the plans are complete, we will hold an open meeting with the architects to fine line anything which may not have been realised. Consultation: I would welcome members of any sports club using the Community centre to contact me so as I can gather information on the wants and needs of those using the facilities and urgent work that needs to be included in the future development. I fully understand our Doors and floor are high on the list, so to prioritise work and start getting quotes, I ask your help. SOCIAL DANCING: A great night of dancing was held last Friday night to the sounds of Declan Aungier. Next month we have Michael Collins all the way from Cork, playing a great mix of country and social dance Music for your enjoyment. A brilliant night of Dancing is guaranteed. Mother's Day: We give thanks to all the mothers who celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday last, we say a little prayer for those who are about to becoming a mum for the first time, Mothers who are no longer with us which we think deeply of everyday in our hearts and remind all mothers there will always be a special bond of motherhood between her children regardless of age. Thanks Mums.

Deepest sympathies: are expressed to Olive Buckley Lisryan on the sad passing of her sister Mary Counihan (née Buckley) Mullingar. Mary will be very sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her fiancé Brendan Tumulty, Rahaspic, Rathowen, her beloved children, adored grandchildren, sisters Ann, Caroline and Olive, son-in-law, daughter-in-law nieces, nephews, relatives, and her many lifelong friend’s. Active Retirement Group: Westmeath Community Development will be holding their annual event in Bloomfield House Hotel on Monday 19th of May. This is a great day out with lots of information on services available for people with Disabilities and Older People within our group. Streete Vintage Club: The club has been awarded "Best Environmental Float" in both the Delvin and Castlepollard St. Patrick's Day parades for 2025. Club members attended an awards ceremony in Gaffney’s bar in Delvin on Saturday. An enjoyable night was had by all with music on the night by Camillus Egerton. Congratulations to the organising committee and all involved on such a successful event. Castle Varagh Hotel in Castlepollard hosted the awards ceremony for the North Westmeath St. Patrick’s Day parade on Sunday evening from 6pm. The Streete crew enjoyed the evening. Congratulations to all involved and we look forward to 2026.

Boherquill Ramblers: Declan Leonard led the Ramblers on a new walk near Mullingar on Sunday 23 March 2025.The group met at the Downs school and walked into the bog outside the Downs and then returned via a loop. The weather was dry and bright with a cool wind which kept the walkers on the move. Thank you to Declan for leading the walk. The Ramblers will meet at 2pm on Sunday April 6 2025 at Taghmon Church on the Castlepollard road outside Mullingar for a 7km loop walk through Galmoylestown.
