Streete Notes

Blessing of the graves: The annual Blessing of the graves in Streete Parish took place last Saturday evening, with a good turnout of family, relations, and friends in attendance. The blessing starting at Streete Cemetery, moved on to Coolamber and then Boherquill, with mass and blessing in the new cemetery. Fr Pierre welcomed everyone and thanked all who came, especially those who traveled a distance to keep up the tradition of remembrance. A cup of tea was available in the Parish Park with some lovely home baked goodies put on by Denise Tighe and her trusted helpers to whom we say thank you. We also thank everyone who gave so generously to the upkeep of the cemeteries.

This will allow you to come view the plans and have your say in what you would like the development to look like. This Development is a shared vision and a roadmap that will guide us in securing future funding to enhance our community centre, sports field, and parkland for generations to come. It is now up on our Facebook page and on full view on our website streeteanddistrice.ie We ask that you take a look and feel free to leave a comment which will help us in the final consultation with our architects, as always you can call me on 087 1375222 to discuss further.

Boherquill Ramblers: The Ramblers walked at Ballinafid on Sunday 15 June 2025, taking in the boardwalk beside Ballinafid Lake on the way to Lough Owel. Large areas of trees had been felled and stacked beside the trail down to the Lough, waiting to be collected. New trees have been planted in other areas, however. The low water level in the Lough also allowed for a short walk along the exposed, stony beach. There will be no walk on Sunday 29 June 2025 as Streete Vintage Show is taking place on that day. The Ramblers send their best wishes to all the organisers and trust the day will be as successful as in previous years. See boherquillramblers.ie for more information.
