New History Call
I am delighted by the response from people who have shown interest in our history call and in what it means to capture our wonderful heritage in a book, Townland by Townland. I am equally grateful for the enthusiastic response from our local school and from younger people who want to be involved. We are now in a position to form a core group. Thank you all for your encouragement and support. Our first townland history call will focus on Clonkeen and Inny Junction. If you have photographs of the station or houses, stories of everyday life and the people who lived there, songs, poetry, and as importantly where they are laid to rest.
Or if you have information about people of fame and fortune of interest connected with families from these townlands, we would love to hear from you. Every memory, no matter how small it may seem, helps to build a richer picture of our shared history. We understand that many people are understandably reluctant to loan or part with precious photographs or documents. This is not a problem — we have equipment that allows us to scan photographs, documents, and other materials in your own home, with no inconvenience to you. All material is treated in the strictest confidence and with the utmost care. For more information or to get involved, please contact Kevin on 087 137 522 — always happy to help.

Big Breakfast Morning
Our Big Breakfast Morning on Sunday last was once again a fantastic success and, as always, a wonderful opportunity to bring everyone together from the parish and surrounding areas. From early on, there was a steady stream of people arriving to enjoy a beautifully cooked breakfast, prepared by Chef Kevin McDonagh (Granard), assisted by Willie McGlynn and Declan Carthy on the bain-marie, along with a dedicated group of volunteer staff who were on hand in the kitchen and on the floor from early morning.
It was clear from the get-go that there was going to be a high turnout, with ticket sales exceeding our expectations. From 8.00am until 1.00pm the crowd just kept coming, and every one of our volunteers were flat out throughout the morning. A special word of thanks goes to our Park Caretaker, Gerry O’Neill, along with Denise Tighe, Bridge Campbell, and Co with their trusted volley of volunteers, who turned out on Saturday night to set out the hall, arrange the tables, and prepare for what proved to be a wonderful community morning.
It was great to see families from around the parish getting out and taking the opportunity to sit back, relax, and enjoy a chat over a delicious breakfast – without the washing up! The Parish Park Committee would like to sincerely thank local representative Robert Troy, who came along to support the event along with everyone who helped out in any way to support this fantastic event. Thank you also to Enda Murphy, Lisryan, who kindly sponsored the milk, and to all who donated raffle prizes or supported the morning in any way, big or small. The money raised is very welcome and will go towards the ongoing upkeep of our Community Centre
