Thanks to all who attend. The Ramblers met at the canal Harbour in Kilbeggan on Sunday 2 November 2025 for a walk along the abandoned canal which runs the 14km to Ballycommon in County Offaly, although the group were not planning to walk the full distance. A 90-minute walk was on the agenda, enough of a walk to appreciate the countryside in all its autumn colours. The tranquility of the trail was interrupted only briefly by the noise of traffic where the Canal passes beneath the M6 motorway. The Rathowen bog walk which stretches the 4km from Near Rathowen Church to the outskirts of Ballinalack was the Ramblers destination on Sunday 9 November 2025. The out-and-back trail was a bit muddy in places, but it was good to be able to walk off-road for a while. Bright sunshine lit the way along the tree-lined track as well as bringing some warmth too.
On Sunday 23 November 2025 the Ramblers will meet at 2pm at Ballinea near Mullingar for a walk along the Royal Canal.
