Tea Party: Streete Parish Park was a hive of excitement on Saturday night as the now-annual American–Irish Tea Party filled the hall with chatter, banter and laughter. Organised by Denise Tighe and her troupe of creative volunteers, the hall was transformed into a banqueting extravaganza. In its second year the event proved to be a true community get-together, attracting locals and visitors who enjoyed delicious food supplied by the hosts of each table and soft overtures of music in the background. It was also a fitting occasion to recognise some of the wonderful staff at our community centre. A memorable memento was presented to recent award winner Gerry O’Neill, and floral presentations, made by committee members to Aine O’Neill, Marie Keary, Marion Denning and Denise Tighe in recognition of their many years of hard work and dedication to the community. The night was a huge success. Many thanks to everyone who sponsored prizes for the draw, hosted tables, attended, or helped in any way — and to those who couldn’t attend but kindly made a donation. Denise tells me planning has already begun for next year’s event already! Well done, Denise.
