Community Alert: As a community alert Group, we just want you to know, our members work tirelessly behind the scenes communicating with Gardai, answering your calls for advice, and ensuring our community is well advised on suspicious caller and unwelcome visitors like rogue tradesmen to our area. It is entirely up to you who you employ to work in your home, or farm buildings. Firstly, it's important that you can trust them to do a professional job. Generally, most are honest, but it's best to do your checks before hand, it could save you thousands in the long run. Secondly, have they insurance to work on your property?? It's essential that whoever's doing the work is insured. That way, if damage is caused, materials get stolen, or they have an accident they are covered. Remember, take the time to check out that their insurance is legit by calling the insurance company on their cert. A bogus trader is not likely to be registered for tax and less likely to be compliant with health and safety regulations. This noncompliance shifts the burden of responsibility of insurance and health and safety to you, the employer. If they fall from a ladder, trip in your yard, or get injured in any way the law is on their side and they have up to six years to make a claim against you in some cases. I’ll leave it at that and let you make up your own minds, you have been advised in the past by Gardai, also in the weekly notes, WhatsApp, Facebook, crime line and many TV shows how these bogus tradesmen simply pray on people. We have a lot of good and recommended trades people locally. If you need help at any time, feel free to call me, 087 1375222
