Streete Vintage Show: On Sunday, June 29th, the annual Vintage Show returned to Streete Parish Park, County Westmeath, and proved to be one of the most successful events held at the venue to date. The park was packed with an impressive array of vintage exhibits — from vintage cars and tractors to stationary engines, trucks, motorbikes, and a wide variety of other vehicles. The scale and quality of the displays were a testament to the dedication of exhibitors and enthusiasts alike. As always, the show was greatly enriched by the presence of vendors and auto jumble sellers, along with the many exhibitors who showcased their skills and talents, all of whom helped create a vibrant, lively atmosphere throughout the day. A special thank you also goes to the Funfair crew, the team behind the lawnmower racing, who provided huge entertainment for attendees, and to those who looked after the dog show, which proved once again to be a firm favorite with families and dog lovers alike. A major highlight of this year’s event was the live music, with performances by Patrick Feeney, Lauren McCrory, and Cara Lynch, drawing large crowds and adding to the festive spirit. A heartfelt thank you goes out to each of them for their fantastic contributions. We would also like to extend a massive thank you to all our sponsors, whose support helps make this event possible. In particular, we are extremely grateful to Mullingar Autos, who came on board as our main sponsors this year, marking 75 years of Volkswagen vehicles in Ireland — a fitting celebration for a vintage occasion. Finally, a sincere thank you to everyone who helped behind the scenes — from the car parking stewards, field marshals, and kitchen staff to all the volunteers who gave their time and energy to ensure the smooth running of the day. Your support and commitment are what make the Streete Vintage Show the standout event it has become. As mentioned, this year’s show was our most successful yet — but we’re always striving to do even better. Planning is already underway for next year, and we’re delighted to confirm that our 2026 Vintage Day will take place on Sunday, June 28th. We look forward to welcoming you all back to Streete Parish Park for what promises to be an even bigger and better events; SVC Chairman James Parker.
Parish Park Development: On behalf of the committee, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended our development meeting last Thursday night. The event, hosted by our architects from More Architecture Ltd and chaired by Pat Davitt, former CEO of IPAV, was a significant step in our journey towards enhancing our Parish Park. This open and transparent public consultation provided an invaluable opportunity for clubs, contributors, and all users of our facilities to voice their opinions and share their insights. We were pleased to hear a variety of interesting questions, which have been documented in our feasibility study. The overall feedback indicates a strong community interest in the project and its potential benefits. We recognise that this development may take several years to complete, and changes may evolve along the way. However, this initiative represents a shared vision and a roadmap that will guide us in securing future funding to enhance our community center, its sports field, and parkland for generations to come. For those who could not attend we invite you to view the preliminary plan available on our website at streeteanddistrict.ie. Your feedback is important to us, so please take a moment to review the plan and feel free to leave your comments. All submissions must be received by July 24th. Following this date, we will hold a final open consultation evening at our community centre with our architects, where the final plans will be presented for public viewing. Afterward, we will submit the plans and application to Westmeath County Council. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the project further, please do not hesitate to call me at 087 1375222. Thank you for your continued support and engagement in this exciting development for our community.
