Granard Library: Musial performances from Granard harp duets, will take place in the library with Edel Loftus, Friday 2nd May at 7 pm all welcome. Also, Join Pauline Lee for a wonderful talk on Brain Health and Function. Taking place in Granard Library on Thursday May 1st at 2 Pm

Table Quiz: A quiz in aid of St Fintan’s Lismacaffrey and Lisryan playground upkeep will take place in Murphy’s Crossroads Inn on Friday May 2nd at 9 Pm. Reffell on the night with many great prizes to be won.

Daffodil Day: Janet and Linda Butler, and their team of volunteers, have updated me on the money raised for to the Irish Cancer Society on daffodil day, your generosity this year raised a whopping, total of €1858.80 A fantastic achievement and thank you to all involved. This will greatly help in the progress to fight this disease and help to save lives. Thank You.

SOCIAL DANCING: Last Friday night we have one of The Highlights on The Social Dancing Calendar. Michael Collins who entertained a full house, playing a great mix of country and social dance. Next month May 30th, we have a legend in social dancing all the way from Galway. Kieran Donohue. Kieran is very popular in Spain and over the years supported many big-name bands, and shook hands with many of the greats like, Don Williams, Ricky Skaggs, John Prine, Nanci Griffith to name but a few, along with a host of Irish artists, Kieran comes to Streete for one night only for your enjoyment. A brilliant night of Dancing is guaranteed. Doors open from 9.00 till Late.

Darkness Into Light: This year Streete Parish Park will hold a Darkness into Light walk-in memory of Patrick O’Neill. Each year the charity Pieta House provides an opportunity for people to come together and connect with their local community to bring hope and raise awareness in the global fight against suicide and self-harm. On Saturday morning May 10th at 4 am, we ask you to join with us as we walk in solidarity and complete 5 rounds of our walking track at Streete Parish Park, N91 RC43 to honor the memory of Patrick, support his loved ones, and spread hope to people who have been impacted by suicide. Please follow the link to donate or donate generously on the morning, if you can’t make the walk for any reason please pop a donation in an envelope and post in the park letterbox and we will add to collection or contact Denise 087 9798546 or Kevin 087 1375222

Development Plan Consultation: We are coming to the final stage of the future development plan for the park field and community centre. This Plan is supported by grant funding from WCD and will be important for generations to come. I am grateful to the people from the parish and district and sporting groups who use the centre and who have made the effort to contact me over the last few weeks. I have noted your views in regard to the development plan. The plan will be up for view on our website streeteanddistrict.ie in the next week, so that you can comment or make suggestions to help our Architects in the final drawings, which will soon be submitted for planning. Active Retirement Group: Westmeath Community Development will be holding their annual event in Bloomfield House Hotel on Monday 19th of May. This is a great day out with lots of information on services available for people with Disabilities and Older People within our group. Boherquill Ramblers: There was no walk on Easter Sunday 20 April 2025. The Ramblers will meet on Sunday 4 May 2025 for a walk along the High Bank overlooking the Royal Canal east of Mullingar. Cars will meet at 2pm at the Park Hotel in Mullingar for this 9km walk with a 6km option. Boots and sticks are advised for this walk. 

GYM: Membership includes induction course, access fob and use of the walking track. Costs for 12 months €250 for an adult, €475 for a couple and €180 for students and Oap’s. we have an easy payment option as well online just go to streeteanddistrict.ie and follow the Club force link. Dates to Remember: First holy communion 8th June. Blessing of the graves in Russagh and Rahaspic will take place on June 14th. Blessing of the graves in Coolamber, Boherquill and Streete will be on June 21st with mass in the cemetery at 8 Pm.
